Studio: Funko Animation Studio
Project Year: 2019
During this project I was in charge of modelling, texturing and look development of the inside of the space ship except the cockpit which was modelled by Lauren McLaughlin.
When I jumped on this task, I immediately look at the storyboard, trying to figure out what part of the ship I had to model – afterall, we were working on a tight schedule and I needed to be sure I wasn’t wasting time on parts of the ship that would not be visible in the shots later on. After that, I gathered as many references as possible. The Millennium Falcon is a famous spaceship most of the people are familiar with, therefore I knew I had to get it right.
From a technical perspective, this set wasn’t one of the biggest I had ever done until then, but the fact that it was made by so many elements forced me to keep my scene organised, to avoid getting lost in it and, moreover, to guarantee a model that was as optimised as possible for animation purpose.
On an interesting note, I created some rigged models for the dangling electric cables, which helped and simplified the animators job
